Saluting Our Veterans & Fighting for Their Earned Benefits

WHEREAS, Americans owe our freedom to the veterans who have worn the uniform with honor and to our military families who serve and sacrifice along with their loved ones; and

WHERAS, in recognition of the sacred obligation to leave no veteran behind, Democrats formed the DNC veterans of military families council 20 years ago to organize, strategize and mobilize our veterans and military families; to expose the challenges veterans and military families face; to bridge the gap between Blue Star families and civilians; and, to honor Gold Star families with the utmost respect for their service and sacrifice; and

WHERAS, with the help of our Fighting Dems - veterans running for Congress as Democrats - and unprecedented mobilization I’ve overseas military voters veterans and military family members, Democrats won the House and the Senate in 2006, 2008, 2018, and 2020 the White House in 2008, 2012 and 2020 — and Democrats delivered historic funding for the G.I. bill of rights for the 21st-century; for resources and veterans homelessness; for jobs programs, including the helmets to hard hats initiatives, the PACT Act (Sgt First Class Heath Robinson Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics Act) which provides cancer care to veterans exposed to burn pits and to military families exposed to toxic water at Camp Lejeune and the COMPACT Act (Veterans Comprehensive Prevention, Access to Care and Treatment Act) that ensures free emergency suicide care for veterans in crisis; as well as historic appropriations for the Veterans Administration; and

WHEREAS, the current commander-in-chief who referred to service members as suckers and losers, has systematically undermined America’s bipartisan commitment to veterans by enacting draconian and petty cuts to veterans’ jobs, the PACT Act and the COMPACT Act — in some instances, even firing the people who answered the veterans suicide crisis hotline. Disgraceful!

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Democratic National Committee continues to uplift our veterans and military families by supporting Fighting Dems running for public office; fully funding veterans and military families’ earned benefits; restoring Trump’s petty and cruel cuts to jobs, PACT Act burn pits cancer care, COMPACT Act mental health care; and, treating America’s servicemembers as the heroes they are — not as the “suckers and losers” that the projector-in-chief has called them.
